Diary of a Dive Instructor on Koh Tao
Incredibly, it took just 1.65 days to complete an Open Water course. I can’t believe the schedule worked out so well!
In the afternoon I played a few games of patience at the bar and spent the afternoon chilling in Maya Beach Club – beautiful atmosphere and great ambient beats playing in the background.
Dinner in the evening at Cantina de Koh Tao (thanks Chris), prior to meeting my lovely new pal Grace [check out her amazing environmental blog, Efforts Change Outcomes].
She needed to eat dinner, but a lot of places were closed this evening, so those that were open were really busy and had super long queues.
We joined a guy who was sitting alone at a 4-seater table and I obviously felt the need to start talking to him. Tom, from the Netherlands is here to do his DM course but works as a personal trainer. He was starving, already waiting when we arrived and, unfortunately, was served just after us. Such a shame when that happens…!
Additional Highlights:
- Spoke with my Dad on the phone for a while today – loved it.
- I think i’m getting the hang of patience and happy to add another card game to my tiny repertoire
Additional Lowlights:
- A gentleman in the vicinity of the bar was so drunk that he chose to remove his clothes and cartwheel/roll himself butt naked across the beach front. Never ever going to have that vision wiped from my memory…
